“In late February, after we silently opened our doors in London, Google’s ‘Across the Pond Productions’ (ATP) approached us to take part in a competitive pitch for the creation of a spot for the relaunch of the incredible Google Art Project.” says Yannis Konstantinidis, founding partner and creative director of NOMINT. “We really wanted to win this project. It’s not very often that you get the chance to work for such an important brand and for a project with such a high impact factor for contemporary culture.”

“The brief was pretty open and required for us to highlight the immersive and very diverse characteristic of the Project. We love it when we get to work on every aspect of a project, from concept to delivery. After winning the pitch we had a bit less than a month to refine the concepts and produce the video. We worked closely with the wonderful team of ATP in what was a very tight schedule.”

The Art Project is part of Google’s efforts in bringing culture online and making art accessible to a wider audience. The Google Art Project initially launched in February 2011, in collaboration with 17 international museums offering 1,000 online exhibits. Last month the Project dramatically expanded to a partnership of 151 museums in 40 countries, offering a more than 30,000 pieces of art available for viewing in high resolution.

“The task of coming up with a concept for the Google Art Launch video was definitely challenging. The project has so many different components and everything had to go into this one video. There is the amazing new Street View experience, the Gigapixel technology, the huge diversity of thousands of Artworks from around the world, the personal galleries and the new sharing options of the platform.

Our concept was to combine what we considered to be the two most interesting aspects of the Project: the immersive nature of the experience and the seemingly infinite-zoom into the paintings and the world of art. Once you start browsing you feel like you get sucked in this incredible universe and we wanted to convey this down-the-rabbit-hole feeling into the video.”

6.04

Brand spanking new London office, new website, new showreel, new projects.

London, 05 April 2012 After 5 incredible years of growth, festivals and accolades, and after having completed over 100 commercial projects, Athens founded animation company NOMINT is about to break its most exciting piece of news to date.

NOMINT is expanding its operations with a brand new office in London!

“The expansion was long awaited. London has always been the great creative playground for us and a hub for our international work. The new office will bolster our presence in the UK market and will extend our global reach even further.” says founding partner Christos Lefakis.

Earlier this year NOMINT ended its global representation by Passion Pictures and will now be pursuing its UK and international presence directly through its new London office.

NOMINT started out from Athens, Greece in 2007 and within a few years it transformed into Greece’s market leader in commercial animation production. It has received several international awards, an ADC Young Guns award, two Gold European Design awards and two Gold iF design awards among others.

Aside from the commercial work, NOMINT is involved in the production of its own content based projects such as the critically acclaimed “Holy Chicken of Life and Music”, “The Greek Crisis Explained Trilogy” and “Mahahula: The Giant Rodent of Happiness” that have been screened in over 100 international festivals like Annecy, Clermont Ferrand, Onedotzero, Pictoplasma, Vimeo, Nashville, Aspen, F5 and Slamdance.

“The Greek market has shown overwhelming love towards NOMINT, making it one of the most acknowledged creative companies in Greece. The offices in London and Athens will collaborate closely providing a unique setup for both local and international collaborations. London’s creative pool and Athens’s established production and creative structure means we can offer high-end production services in an approachable and flexible way”

The new office nests at 13 Norton Folgate, just north of Spitalfields Market, in the heart of Shoreditch. Find your way through the brand new website www.nomint.com and don’t forget to check out the latest Showreel Edit for 2012 www.nomint.com/showreel-2012 .
